Unlike most other entries logged in this sweep, the murder here is real and well attested: Malcolm MacFie (MacDuffie), the last hereditary chief of Clan Macfie, was captured with several clansmen and killed on Colonsay in 1623 by a party of MacDonalds led by Coll Ciotach ('Colkitto') MacDonald, following a failed uprising led by Sir James Macdonald - after which the clan lost its lands and was dispersed. This is corroborated independently by Wikipedia's 'Clan Macfie' article and multiple clan-society histories (Clan Macfie Australia, ScotClans, Clan MacDubhsith/MacFie societies in Canada), and the clan gathered on Colonsay in 2023 to mark the killing's 400th anniversary.
