Flagged via a Facebook/Instagram comment (RuralHistoria page, commenter Debbie Walker) who photographed it in Devon in 2020 without knowing what it was at the time or recording the precise location. A dedicated search turned up no independent record of this stone, this name, or a matching 1905 inquest - it may be a genuinely obscure marker documented nowhere else online, or the commenter may be misremembering exactly where in Devon it was. Worth keeping on the site as an example of the wider 'roadside memorial' tradition murder stones sit within, but needs someone to identify the actual location before it can be treated as more than a single uncorroborated photograph. POSSIBLE IDENTIFICATION - UNCONFIRMED: a GENUKI transcription of Exeter and Plymouth Gazette inquest reports for Devon, 1905, includes an entry for 'the sad death of MR AYLESBURY, of Leigh Court, Uffculme... the deceased lying in the road, deceased's feet were pinned underneath the cart' - which reads consistent with a carriage/cart accident death of a man surnamed Aylesbury in Devon in 1905, matching the stone's inscription in general shape. This has NOT been confirmed as the same event - the exact date, first name/initials, and precise cause of death haven't been cross-checked (the GENUKI page itself blocked automated access on a second attempt), and 'Aylesbury' could plausibly be a surname unrelated to the stone's initials 'H.A.W.' rather than 'H.A.W.
